Atlas Concorde Habitat’s collection of porcelain stoneware pieces is among the projects selected for the cycle leading up to the 2028 ADI Compasso d’Oro.
The ADI Permanent Design Observatory has selected ‘Tratto’ for the 2026 ADI Design Index, which was presented in Milan on 1 October. The volume marks the start of the biennial cycle for the ADI Compasso d’Oro Award 2028. The projects featured are eligible for the award and are also in the running for the ADI Design Index Innovation Award, which leads to the National Innovation Award, the ‘Premio dei Premi’.
The Compasso d’Oro was established in 1954 and has been organised by ADI since 1956. It assesses the quality of Italian design in terms of both concept and production. In 2004, its Historical Collection was declared a site of national interest.
Porcelain stoneware becomes an object
With Tratto, porcelain stoneware goes beyond the applications with which it is usually associated. It becomes a table, a bench, a planter, a storage unit, a shelf, an accessory.
The ceramic does not stand alone. Each piece is paired with glass, wood or metal, and the design is built upon the interplay between textures, colours and reflections. Carefully considered proportions and clean lines tie the entire collection together, designed by Piero Lissoni.
Tratto products feature the same ceramic finishes as Atlas Concorde surfaces. For designers, this means being able to use the same finish on floors, wall tiles and furnishings within a single project.
This is the principle behind One Space – The Atlas Concorde Ceramic Ecosystem, a system in which surfaces, furnishings and objects share the same design language. Tratto enriches this system and expands Atlas Concorde Habitat, the brand dedicated to furnishings, bathrooms and tables.
